John McGrath opened Waterford Martial Arts on the 25th of July, 2005.
Having already earned his 2nd Dan in Ultimate Kickboxing, 4th Dan in Hapkido , 2nd Dan in Filipino Martial Arts, Kombatan, representing Ireland in rowing, winning silver at the Mexican Grand Prix Regatta and Gold in the Irish and Belgium Open Championships, and also presenting Ireland in kickboxing in the European Championships in 2006 , John knows what it takes to achieve the highest levels in Martial Arts and other competetive sports.
John is also currently the Irish High Performance Fitness Coach for the Irish Kickboxing team which competed in Serbia in 2007 giving its best ever performance by winning 4 medals at the W.A.K.O. World Championships.
As a graduate of WIT, John has an in-depth knowledge of the scientific under-pinning of training in all areas of sport.
The gym in Waterford City is a complete re-development of the existing premises, located at Unit 10, Park road Business Park in the heart of Waterford city, on the Dunmore Road and directly opposite the Peoples' Park.
The gym is designed to accommodate training in any discipline, with the maximum of comfort and safety. The facilities include 1800 square feet of fitted interlocking mats, twenty firepower free standing bags , shields and a full range of martial arts training equipment.
At the moment the disciplines offered are Ultimate Kickboxing,/Satori-Do ( Kids karate ) , Kombatan , Filipino Martial Arts ,JuJitzu as well as Capoeira.
Cardio Kickboxing Fitness classes are also taught at WMA by John Fitzgerald and Pat Evans , a total of 4 evening classes are offered , these classes have been proven to be popular and regularly booked out. Please view our time schedules for any further details.
Both Adult and children’s programmes are being offered, so that students feel as comfortable as possible within the training environment. |
